Ghost Stories to Scare the Dickens Out of You

Please join us as Mr. Charles Dickens returns to the stage to read his stories just as he did over 160 years ago. He will read and “perform” short ghost stories that he wrote for his magazines. This performance, “Ghost Stories to Scare the Dickens Out of You,” includes five stories. They are read in two acts for a total of just over 90 minutes. A 15-minute intermission will divide the acts.

Mr. Kenneth Noll, no relation to Mr. Dickens, will perform as Mr. Dickens in full costume. Mr. Noll has long experience on the WTG stage and also portrays Mr. Charles Darwin in other venues.

Dickens performs by candlelight from behind his custom-made reading table. He brings his characters to life using different voices, animated gestures, and facial expressions to enhance the vocal performance. Audiences in his time gasped in fear, cried with anguish, or roared with laughter and, perhaps, you will, too.

In the holiday “spirit” of going out dressed in costumes, those of you who are able to attend dressed in your finest Victorian attire, you are more than welcome to do so.

There will be two performances, Friday, October 22 and Saturday, October 23 at 7:30 pm at the Windham Theatre Guild. Different stories will be told in the second acts of each evening. We ask that you wear a mask when you attend and we will endeavor to maintain safe distances in our seating arrangements.

We invite you to attend this very Victorian celebration of visits from the spirit world. It will be an evening full of chills, frights, and even some laughter as we experience otherworldly adventures as only Dickens can tell them.
